Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about learning to ride with confidence.
- 1) What’s the best age to start?
- Most kids can begin balance-bike gliding between ages 2–4. Focus on short sessions and playful goals, not distance or speed.
- 2) When should we add pedals?
- Once your child can glide 10–15 meters with eyes up, steering steady, and controlled braking, introduce pedals in a flat, open area.
- 3) How long is a typical lesson?
- Our micro-lessons run 5–8 minutes, with rest and reflection. Two or three micro-lessons per outing is plenty for consistent progress.
- 4) Are training wheels recommended?
- We don’t recommend them. Training wheels can delay balance. Start with a balance bike or remove pedals and lower the seat temporarily.
- 5) What safety gear is essential?
- A properly fitted helmet, closed-toe shoes, and visible clothing. For urban practice, add a bell and lights and teach signaling early.
- 6) How do we handle fear or frustration?
- Pause. Celebrate one specific win. Offer one cue for the next try. Skip “just one more.” Tomorrow is another chance.
- 7) Can older kids start on a balance bike?
- Yes. Removing pedals on a standard bike achieves the same gliding effect. Older kids often progress quickly with focused drills.
- 8) How do Purposefulix RideLab courses work?
- Each course contains modules, parent prompts, and practice plans. Progress is saved locally on your device; no images or downloads required.
- 9) Do you offer refunds?
- We provide a clear syllabus and free previews in the catalog. If something isn’t right, contact us within 14 days and we’ll review options.
